
11th Pink Race for breast cancer prevention
Hundreds of participants took part in the 11th Pink Race at the 5 Juillet Stadium, organized by the El Amel Association for people with cancer – CPMC (Pierre and Marie Curie Center), in partnership with the Ministry of Health. This edition highlights the importance of early breast cancer screening. Under the sign of solidarity and hope, the 11th edition of the Pink Race, launched to prevent breast cancer, brought together hundreds of participants. The event marks the closing of the Pink October 2025 campaign, dedicated to breast cancer awareness and promoting early screening to improve chances of recovery. Nearly 14,000 women affected by breast cancer each year in Algeria Having become an unmissable civic gathering, this event continues the prevention and screening actions carried out throughout October. Women of all ages, children and entire families took part in this symbolic race, alongside patients and survivors who came to testify that the fight against breast cancer, which affects nearly 14,000 women each year in Algeria, is above all a collective struggle. Speaking on this occasion, Ms. Hamida Kettab, Secretary General of the El Amel association, stressed that "this race has now become part of our society's tradition. It has managed to unite generations and create a true human chain of hope and support." She noted that "every year, more people show up." Mobilization of medical staff Ms. Kettab also paid tribute to the medical and paramedical team who actively took part in the national early screening campaign for breast and cervical cancer, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Health. Since October 1st, two mobile clinics equipped with modern medical equipment have crisscrossed the country, covering more than 2,000 kilometers, reaching as far as Adrar. A civic and supportive gathering Ms. Kettab stressed the need to undergo screening from the age of 40, adopt a healthy lifestyle and practice regular physical activity to reduce risks. "Breast cancer can be beaten if detected in time. Prevention is in our hands," she stated with conviction.
