Blood cancers include leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. They affect the production or function of blood cells.

Symptômes

• Persistent fatigue, paleness • Unexplained fever, frequent infections • Easy bruising or bleeding • Swollen lymph nodes • Night sweats, unexplained weight loss • Bone pain

Facteurs de risque

• Exposure to certain chemicals (benzene, pesticides) • History of chemotherapy or radiotherapy • Certain genetic conditions • Weakened immune system, certain viral infections • Family history

Prévention

• Limit occupational exposure to chemicals and radiation • Manage underlying immune conditions • No universally proven prevention: awareness of symptoms remains essential

Dépistage

• No systematic population-wide screening • Complete blood count during routine health checkups • See a doctor promptly for persistent symptoms

Traitement

• Chemotherapy • Targeted therapy and immunotherapy • Radiotherapy • Stem cell or bone marrow transplant depending on the type • Close hematology follow-up
